Expert Podiatry, Foot Care & Acupuncture at The Clinic

Welcome to The Clinic, where experienced podiatrist and acupuncturist Leah Claydon provides professional, personalised care for patients in Buntingford, Hertfordshire and the surrounding areas.

With more than 30 years of experience in podiatry and extensive training in acupuncture, Leah combines clinical expertise with a warm, patient-focused approach. Every appointment is centred around understanding the individual, identifying the underlying cause of discomfort and developing a treatment plan designed to help improve mobility, reduce pain and support long-term health and wellbeing.

Whether you are looking for routine podiatry, support with a painful foot condition, treatment for an ingrown toenail, custom orthotics, verruca treatment, laser therapy or acupuncture, The Clinic provides a wide range of specialist services in a professional and welcoming environment.

Personalised Care Built Around You

No two patients are exactly the same, which is why Leah takes the time to understand your symptoms, lifestyle, activity levels and health goals before recommending treatment.

Foot pain and lower limb problems can affect almost every part of everyday life, from walking and working to exercising, travelling and simply enjoying time with family and friends. The aim at The Clinic is not simply to manage symptoms, but to understand why they are occurring and help you achieve the best possible long-term outcome.

Leah combines many years of practical clinical experience with continued professional development and modern treatment technology. Her approach is thorough, knowledgeable and reassuring, with each patient receiving clear explanations and practical advice throughout their treatment journey.

Podiatry & Foot Care

Healthy feet are fundamental to maintaining comfort, mobility and independence. Leah provides professional podiatry and foot care for a wide range of common and more complex foot conditions, helping patients stay active and comfortable at every stage of life.

Treatment can help with problems including corns, calluses, hard skin, cracked heels, thickened nails, painful nails and general foot discomfort. Patients may also seek podiatry support when persistent pain or changes in the feet begin to affect walking, exercise or day-to-day activity.

Every podiatry appointment is tailored to the individual, with careful assessment followed by appropriate treatment and advice. Regular professional foot care can also help identify potential problems at an early stage and support healthier feet over the long term.

Biomechanics & Gait Assessment

The way your feet and lower limbs move can have an important influence on the rest of your body. Problems with foot mechanics, joint movement or gait can contribute to discomfort in the feet, ankles, knees, hips and lower back.

A biomechanical assessment looks closely at how the feet and lower limbs function during movement. Leah can assess posture, joint mobility, muscle function and walking patterns to help identify possible causes of recurring pain, instability or injury.

Once the underlying factors have been identified, a personalised treatment plan can be developed. This may include practical advice, exercises, footwear recommendations, orthotic therapy or a combination of approaches designed to improve movement and reduce unnecessary strain.

Custom Orthotics & Insoles

Custom orthotics are specially prescribed devices designed to support the feet, improve alignment and help manage biomechanical problems.

Unlike standard shop-bought insoles, custom orthotics are selected or created according to your individual foot structure and movement patterns. They may be recommended following a biomechanical assessment where additional support, pressure redistribution or improved stability could help relieve symptoms.

Orthotic therapy may be useful for a range of issues including heel pain, plantar fasciitis, flat feet, high arches, tendon problems and discomfort affecting the knees or other areas of the lower limb. The aim is to provide appropriate support while helping you move more comfortably and efficiently.

Nail Surgery & Ingrown Toenail Treatment

Ingrown toenails can become extremely painful and may lead to repeated inflammation or infection if they are not properly treated.

Leah has extensive experience in nail surgery and has performed hundreds of procedures throughout her career. Nail surgery can provide a long-term solution for patients who experience persistent or recurring ingrown toenails, particularly where more conservative treatment has not resolved the problem.

Procedures are carried out under local anaesthetic within the clinic, with careful treatment and clear aftercare advice provided to support healing. The goal is to reduce pain, resolve the underlying nail problem and help patients return to comfortable everyday activity as quickly as possible.

Swift® Verruca Treatment

Verrucae can sometimes prove difficult to treat, particularly when they have been present for a long time or have not responded to conventional methods.

The Clinic offers Swift® Microwave Technology, an advanced treatment designed specifically for stubborn verrucae. The technology delivers controlled microwave energy to the affected tissue, helping stimulate the body’s own immune response against the virus responsible for the verruca.

Swift® does not rely on traditional acids or freezing treatments and can be particularly useful for patients who have already tried other approaches without success. Leah will assess the verruca and advise whether Swift® is an appropriate treatment option for your individual circumstances.

Class 4 Laser Therapy

Class 4 Laser Therapy offers a modern, non-invasive approach to pain relief and tissue healing.

The treatment uses therapeutic light energy to stimulate cellular activity, promote circulation and support the body’s natural recovery processes. It may be incorporated into treatment plans for conditions including plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendon problems, soft tissue injuries, joint discomfort and other musculoskeletal complaints.

Laser treatment can be used on its own or alongside other podiatry treatments where appropriate. The aim is to reduce pain and inflammation while helping patients regain function, mobility and confidence.

Integrated Chinese Acupuncture

Leah is also a qualified and experienced acupuncturist, combining Five Element Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Acupuncture with a contemporary understanding of health and wellbeing.

Acupuncture uses fine, sterile needles placed at carefully selected points on the body. Treatment is personalised according to your symptoms, medical history and individual goals, with Leah taking a holistic approach that considers both physical and emotional wellbeing.

Patients may choose acupuncture to support pain management, musculoskeletal conditions, headaches, stress, tension and a range of other health concerns. Acupuncture can be used as a standalone treatment or alongside other forms of healthcare as part of a broader approach to wellbeing.

Children’s Feet

Children’s feet are constantly growing and developing, making early assessment and professional advice particularly important when concerns arise.

Leah provides podiatry care for children of all ages, helping parents understand changes in foot posture, gait and lower limb development. An assessment can provide valuable reassurance when development is progressing normally, while also identifying issues that may benefit from additional support.

Every appointment is adapted to the child’s age, activity levels and individual needs, with the aim of promoting healthy development, comfortable movement and confidence in everyday activities.

Why Choose Leah Claydon The Clinic?

Leah brings more than three decades of podiatry experience to every appointment and is committed to delivering professional, knowledgeable and compassionate care.

She has been awarded Fellowship of the Royal College of Podiatry and is a member of the Faculty of Podiatric Medicine at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. Her career has included work with the Army and the establishment of a diabetic foot treatment centre at a State Hospital in Cyprus, alongside many years of treating patients in private practice.

Leah also continues to invest in ongoing education and modern treatment technology, allowing The Clinic to offer both established podiatry techniques and advanced treatments such as Swift® Microwave Therapy and Class 4 Laser Therapy.

Most importantly, patients can expect a friendly welcome, clear advice and a personalised approach focused on helping them feel better and continue doing the things they enjoy.

My wife and I, for a number of years, went to Leah's clinic in Sawston where we received a superb and highly professional service in a friendly atmosphere. We have since gone to her new place of work in the country where she has set up a most impressive new clinic which we would highly recommend

I was very sad when Leah said she was moving from Sawston but what is 15 minutes extra driving – worth it for the feet "experience". The relaxed atmosphere of her new clinic set in lovely countryside and her professionalism makes for a good PDO (pensioner's day out)!

I used to go to Leah Claydon in Sawston and every visit was a pleasure, as well as making my feet feel terrific. She’s moved to the beautiful countryside now, to very well-appointed clinic and my first visit there was wonderful. I am looking forward to going again in August.

My disabled son has been receiving chiropody from Leah, the owner of The Clinic, for more than 10 years now – I checked the dates! I've also seen her for chiropody and acupuncture treatments. Initially this was at her previous location in Sawston. She always makes us so welcome and provides excellent treatments. I can honestly say that over this time Leah has become a family friend. I have no hesitation in highly recommending Leah to anyone needing chiropody, podiatry or acupuncture services. You will be in expert hands.
